Marc Anthony was at the Domenico Dolce 50′thBirthday Party last month wearing Chrome Hearts – “Red” sunglass. Domenico Dolce  is one of the founding partners of the Italian fashion powerhouse Dolce and Gabbana, along with Stefano Gabbana and is based in Milan, Italy. Marc is a huge fan of Chrome Hearts and has many different frames that he wears regularly.

The “Red” sunglass has that classic Chrome Hearts lens shape that is become a staple for the brand.  Unique, timeless, classy and stunning all together.  This lens shape won the very prestigious and coveted International Optical Fair of Tokyo “Frame of the Year” award with the Chrome Hearts Red Riot frame in 2005. Erik Compton was competing at the first stage of the PGA Tour qualifing event in Key Biscayne, Florida wearing the Maui Jim “Akoni” sunglass. 

You may ask, “who is Erik Compton?” Well, Erik’s round of golf, and his story maybe just the best miracle story of the year. You see, Erik shot the low round of the day on a windy, blustery afternoon and somehow managed to grab the last spot to advance in first-stage PGA Tour qualifying at Crandon Golf Club.  This feat was considered nearly impossible by all accounts by anyone, especially Erik who by his own words has stated ”I’ve been dead, twice”.

When Erik was 9 year old he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, an enlarging of the heart that hinders its ability to pump blood. Three years later in 1992 when he was 12, he received his first heart transplant.  Unfortunately, Erik suffered a heart attack on Oct. 3, 2007, while playing golf and frantically drove himself from the golf course to the same hospital where he received his first transplant at age 12. His heart was running at 15 per cent capacity, his car was going full throttle and he was calling everybody he could to tell them he loved them and to say goodbye.  Miraculously, he survived this attack and at the age of 28 he underwent his second heart transplant on May 20, only five months ago! That’s right, at only 28 years old he is on his third heart.

With only 5 months of rehab and training, Erik opened the 72-hole qualifying event with rounds of 76, 75 and 77. His total of 12 over par through 54 holes was seven shots higher than the final qualifying position, which includes the top 23 and ties. He was all but certain to fail to qualify, as it was truly a miracle that he even competed at all.  He had already exceeded everyone expectations, except his own.

In terrible conditions, Erik started strong on the back nine making three birdies and added another at the par-4 second but was disappointed he could not get in with any more birdies.  After signing for his 68, Erik figured he would miss the cutoff by one shot. Heartbreaking. But the pressure got to the rest of the field and sure enough, the qualifying number rose to 8 over. It had been 5 over through three rounds. Erik’s total of 296 was good for a seven-way tie for 23rd which advances him to the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament’s 90-hole, six-day final in California!  

“Erik’s whole life is a miracle,” his mother, Eli Compton, said. “The things he has done defy common logic.” Erik has plenty more to look forward to than golf. His wife is due to give birth to a girl on Feb. 26, a date that has special meaning.

Carmen Electra was in Los Angeles yesterday wearing the classy CHANEL ”CH 5139” sunglass.

Carmen’s real name is Tara Leigh Patrick, but many don’t know how her professional name came about.  Back in 1994 she moved to Southern California where she met Prince while auditioning for an all-girl rap group. After the audition, Prince persuaded her to change her name to Carmen Electra and instead record a solo album. Soon after, she signed a recording contract with Prince’s company Paisley Park Records, marking the start of a short-lived singing career.

Tom Cruise was out shopping last night at the Hermes store in Uptown Manhattan wearing his favorite Cartier ”Santos Dumont” sunglass.  While has been well known that Tom and his wife Katie Holmes have been living in New York over the past few months, rumors have swelled that the couple want to bring their Hollywood lifestyle to the East Village permanently.  According to a neighbor, Tom and Katie are buying up lofts in a 12-story building slightly south of 14th Street. “Tom and Katie now keep five units in the building. They turned one into [2-year-old daughter] Suri‘s playroom. One they use for a gym, and two apartments are for staff,” said our source. Tom bought a 10th-floor unit in 1985 and has held onto the space since. “In the past couple of months they’ve bought up all these other apartments,” our source said. Nonetheless, a rep for Tom denies the couple is buying up units in that building.

Singer, songwriter and entertainer Pink (Alecia Moore) was arriving at The Metro in Sydney, Australia to do a soundcheck for her secret show yesterday wearing the new Prada “PR 21IS” sunglass.  The intimate “secret” 75 minute gig was for a thousand of her luckiest fans and was her only performance during her Australian visit!

Michelle Trachtenberg was leaving lunch at Porto Via in Beverly Hills yesterday wearing the fantastic Gucci “GG 3017” sunglass. This frame features the famous Gucci  horse-bit temples that are encrusted with Swarovski crystals.  This frame could possibly be the most attention getting Gucci ever made.

Michelle made the “A” guest list for the 21st birthday party of Zac Efron last night. The event was reportedly organised by Efron’s girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens. Other guests besides Michelle included Monique Coleman, Ashley Tisdale, Aly and AJ Michalka, and Brittany Snow. Efron’s presents reportedly included bottles of liquor, which marked him becoming the legal age to drink alcohol.  The party left the Italian eatery before midnight, but apparently continued partying at a nearby hotel with a selection of close friends.

Holly Madison was out shopping in Los Angeles over the weekend wearing the Dior ”Strassy 1” sunglass. Holly is a model and television personality, best known for appearing as Hugh Hefner’s number one girlfriend with Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson on the reality TV series The Girls Next Door. Holly and Hefner have since parted ways just last week.

A few interesting things about Holly is that she grew up on Prince of Wales Island, Alaska, near Ketchikan, and she also was a Hawaiian Tropic model and worked at Hooters while she was in college. Oh, and she also has stated that she had breast augmentation, going from an A cup breast to a D cup!

Gavin Rossdale was out with his family over the last weekend wearing the timeless style of Oliver Peoples “Specialist” sunglass. Gavin is a musician that is most famous for being the lead singer and guitarist of the former rock band Bush and later the lead singer and guitarist of Institute, which broke up in 2006 after only one album. Gavin is also married to a rather famous music icon, Gwen Stefani.

Tobey Maguire was out in Los Angeles over the weekend wearing Oliver Peoples ”Victory” sunglass.  News leaked over the weekend that Tobey is to be paid a jaw-dropping $50million in salary and profit shares for filming the next two Spider-Man movies back to back.  The deal includes a special arrangement for time off to see his 22-month-old daughter Ruby Sweetheart. Reportedly, Tobey was willing to shoot Spider-Man 4 and 5 back-to-back over six months next year but insisted he should take early mornings and evenings off so he could spend time with his family.  Sony, which declined to comment on the pay deal, is thought to have been wary of allowing “family time” because it could set a precedent. Finally its chairman, Amy Pascal, herself a mother, stepped in, saying six months without family time would not be fair on any parent.

Jessica Simpson was all smiles during an event at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C., last Friday wearing Marc Jacobs‘ “MJ 107” sunglass. Jessica performed a concert and sang the national anthem before Saturday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Bank of America 500 auto race.  Jessica announced recently that she will be touring in the future as the opening act for the chart-topping country trio Rascal Flatts as they extend their Bob That Head Tour into 2009.

Katy Perry was out getting ready for a boat ride at the Woolloomooloo Wharf in Australia wearing the trendy Fendi “FS 484” sunglass. Kathy is a singer-songwriter and rose to prominence with her 2008 single “I Kissed a Girl” which has become a worldwide hit topping the charts in more than 20 countries. In her teenage years, Katy said she found a Queen album with her friend, and later stated, “From then on, they have been my biggest influence”.

Hayden Panettiere -was out buying cupcakes in Hollywood yesterday wearing the latest aviator style from RayBan, the ”3362 Cockpit“  sunglass. This shape is fantastic on smaller faces and is somewhat similar to the iconic Oliver Peoples Aero sunglass. Hayden is wearing the Arista (or Gold) frame with Pink Silver Mirror lens.  This color is becoming more available in other fashion inspired RayBan models as well.

Hayden recently teamed up with Jessica Alba for a spoof video urging young people in the U.S. to vote at the upcoming presidential election.  Alba has made two controversial ads in which she wears a Hannibal Lecter-style muzzle in a bid to encourage Americans to take to the polls in November. Hayden joined Jessica in a satirical clip in which the two stars are seen hosting a mock home-shopping show selling The Muzzler 2008, a similar device to that worn by Alba in the last campaign. Panettiere is seen modeling a pink version, spelling out to youngsters the need not to let their political voices be silenced.

I had a request a few days ago from Kathleen asking which sunglasses Angelina Jolie was wearing last weekend while taking her kids to Lee’s Art Shop in New York City.  Angelina was wearing Christian Dior ”Josephine 2″ sunglass.

Angelina has been busy working on her latest film “Changeling” which was directed by superstar Clint Eastwood.  The movie veteran said Jolie’s talents are easily overlooked because of her “gorgeous face” and a face he describes as “the most beautiful face on the planet.” Eastwood’s new film is set in Los Angeles in 1928.  Angelina’s character’s son is kidnapped and a fruitless search ensues. Months later a boy claiming to be the nine-year-old is returned. Dazed by the swirl of police and reporters, she allows him to stay despite knowing he is not her son.

A quick update on what the guys are wearing on the current season of the hit TV show “Entourage“.  Ari (Jeremy Piven) has been wearing the Prada PR55HS sunglass. This frame has a very unique temple but has that classic Prada style that has been quite a hit the past few years.

Vince (played by Adrian Grenier) was wearing very cool Barton Perreira “Duvall” sunglasses.  This metal aviator style sunglass features classic lines along with a small mesh styled bridge and is very light weight. 

Kevin Connelly (Eric) has continued from last season wearing Mosley Tribes “Pilot” sunglass.  Mosley Tribes a division of Oliver Peoples and has a great focus on aviator styles. 

Actress Kate Walsh was visiting “Late Show with David Letterman” at the Ed Sullivan Theatre on Tuesday in New York City wearing the classy Barton Perreira ”Socialite” sunglass.  Barton Perreira is a new line of optical and sunglasses targeted to the luxury market. They began about a year ago and have already become quite popular because of the experience of the founders, their popularity among celebrities and the simple beauty of the shape, style and design. The company was founded by Patty Perreira and Bill Barton who formerly designed frames for the eyewear powerhouse Oliver Peoples. Many of the Barton Perreira frames are made from titanium, while others are hand-made zyl.

Nicollette Sheridan was out shopping Monday wearing the fantastic Oliver Peoples ”Skyla” sunglass. The Desperate Housewives star is fast approaching her 45th birthday, but it’s clear age hasn’t wearied her ability to set temperatures soaring.  Sneak peek stills from the hit series show the actress looking more fabulous than ever as she parades around Wisteria Lane in an animal print one-piece and towering heels.

Britney Spears was leaving Los Angeles International Airport on her way to New York over the weekend wearing the beautifulRoberto Cavalli369S sunglass.  Britney is on tour for the promotion of the release of her comeback single “Womaniser”.  She revealed over the weekend that she would start a music tour next year. Britney made a surprise guest appearance on a New York radio station Z100 Monday and said she would “definitely” be touring next year, “probably around the world”. Britney made a huge comeback at the MTV Video Music Awards this year by winning all three categories for which she was nominated – video of the year, best pop video and best female video – all for the tune “Piece of Me”.

Kirsten Dunst was in Hollywood yesterday wearing the funky CHANEL 5128S s. This big funky frame is somewhat reminiscentof a Wayfarer, but much more feminine and classy.

After some speculation whether or not Mary Jane would be in Spider-Man 4 and 5, actress Kirsten Dunst accidentally revealed to MTV just yesterday that she will indeed be returning to the series.  “I’m in,” said the actress matter of factly. However, when pressed to make the announcement official, Dunst quickly changed her tone, and rather cryptically added, “I’m not saying anything, I know there’s rumors…”

Here’s a photo from last month that had slipped through the cracks!  Sophia Bush was in Beverly Hills, California on her way to a photo shoot at Smashbox Studios in Culver City wearing the new Emilio Pucci 608s Sunglass. Sophia is perhaps best known for her role as Brooke Davis in the series One Tree Hill and for portraying Grace Andrews in the horror remake The Hitcher . However, her first big break was an appearance in the comedy Van Wilder as Sally (the freshman who seduces Van and doesn’t know who Air Supply is).

Emilio Pucci was the kingpin of textile reinvention and beautiful prints in the 1950′s and 1960′s. His designs revolutionized the world of fashion, knocking the previous trend of dull colors and heavy fabrics on its ear and developing a fan following that was almost unheard of at the time. Today, original Emilio Pucci  prints from that time period are highly collectable items, and the current line of Emilio Pucci clothing is still in high demand. Emilio’s daughter Laudomia took over as head designer upon her father’s death in  1992, followed by several others. Today Pucci features celebrated fashion designer Christian LaCroix, who has taken the brand and revitalized it by using vintage Emilio Pucci  prints combined with new styles.

Jensen Ackles was out having fun and racing last week at the Red Bull Soapbox Derby in Vancouver, Canada wearing REVO ”RE 4029″ sunglass. Jason is notable for his television roles as Eric Brady in Days of Our Lives, Alec/X5-494 in Dark Angel, and Jason Teague in Smallville. Jason currently plays Dean Winchester on the CW series Supernatural, which fourth season premiered just last Thursday (September 18th).
