Musical icon Elton John was performing at his 16th Annual Elton John Aids Foundation Oscar Party in West Hollywood over the weekend wearing the fantastic Chrome Hearts “Drilled” eyewear.   The annually held gala is found among the major fund-raising events organized by the Foundation. Taking place on the Oscar Night, the party is also aimed to attract international attention towards the fight against AIDS and promote people’s awareness of the disease. During the period of the last 14 years the event has raised about $125 million to support the Foundation in its activities against AIDS, in particular HIV/AIDS prevention and special direct service programs implemented in 55 countries of the world. 

 

Michael Ball, owner of the professional cycling team “Rock Racing”, as well as the fashion brand Rock & Republic, was in the crowd of the Tour of California international cycling race this weekend wearing Dior’s “Black Tie 67S” sunglass. Rock & Republicis a high-end fashion and jeans brand founded by Michael in 2002. Prior to starting the company, Michael was an avid cyclist and his passion for cycling has never been higher. Rock & Republic is well known for their line designed by Victoria Beckham, called ‘VB Rocks’. 

Actress Kate Hudson was in Santa Monica this weekend shopping with friends wearing the funky Tom Ford “Anouk” sunglass.  It appears that Tom Ford’s appeal to the celebrity crowd has not lessened from last year as his sunglass continue to some of the most visibly seen sunglasses by the Hollywood “in” crowd.

Penelope Cruz was arriving at the LAX International Airport over the weekend wearing one of the latest Bvlgari sunglasses, the 8020B.  Penelope was in Los Angeles for the  80th Academy Awards ceremony that was held on Sunday, February 24 at the Kodak Theatre to honor outstanding film achievements of 2007.

Reality television star Heidi Montag was leaving lunch yesterday at the Coletree Cafe in Brentwood, California wearing the classy Chanel 4157Q sunglass. Heidi is best known for appearing on the MTV reality television series The Hills and is also an aspiring singer.  On February 5th Montag’s first single “Higher” received an online-only release on iTunes. Along with the single, the accompanying video shot by boyfriend, Spencer Pratt, was also available to purchase.

Singer and reality TV star Paula Abdul was at the Official Superbowl XLII Party eariler this month wearing the new Prada Sport PS 50H sunglass. In the 1980s, Paula rose from being a cheerleader for the Los Angeles Lakers NBA basketball team to being a sought-after choreographer at the height of the music video era, then to being a Pop-R&B singer with a string of hits in the late 1980s and early 1990s.^  Paula Found renewed fame and success in the 2000’s as a judge on the television series American Idol.  A new album by Paula is reported to be set for a mid-2008 release.

Roberto Cavalli was entertaining super model Petra Nemcova at the Roberto Cavalli Fashion Show wearing his Just Cavalli JC 004 sunglass.  Roberto is arguably the hottest Italian fashion designer of modern luxury clothing currently. Last November Roberto designed and released an exclusive line at H&M for the great designer Maria Riveritta. In the San Francisco H&M flagship store the women’s line sold out within the first 10 minutes and the men’s line sold out within 3 hours. In the Boston H&M flagship store Roberto’s line for both men and women was completely sold out in 15 minutes, and the backorder/waitlist was full in 45 minutes! Flagships in Southern California, New York, Miami, and Chicago also had similar outcomes with Cavalli’s line.

Music icon Alice Cooper was at the 10th Annual Michael Douglas and Friends Celebrity Golf Tournament last week at the Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles wearing the crazy popular Oakley Flak Jacket sunglass.  After conquering his alcoholism, Cooper became a noted golf enthusiast and regularly participated in several Pro-Am competitions (This was detailed in his book, Alice Cooper: Golf Monster). He has appeared in commercials for Callaway Golf equipment. He reportedly has a 4 handicap and plays 6 days a week. Since 1997, he has hosted an annual golf competition, the Alice Cooper Celebrity AM Golf Tournament. All proceeds from the event go to Cooper’s charity, the Solid Rock Foundation. In August 2006, he participated in the Northern Rock All Stars Cup event – a celebrity version of the Ryder Cup, for charity.

Actor Mickey Rourke was on the set of his new movie “The Wrestler” in Keansburg New Jersey yesterday wearing Prada’s “PS 05G” sunglass.  The Wrestler was scripted by Robert Siegel and entered development at director Darren Aronofsky’s Protozoa Pictures. Nicolas Cage was originally to star in the film’s lead role as Randy “Ram” Robinson, a former wrestler. Cage left the project for reasons unexplained a month after signing to do the movie and Mickey Rourke replaced him in the lead role. Production began last month (January 2008) with filming taking place in New York and New Jersey. Afa Anoa’i, a former professional wrestler, was hired to train Rourke for his role.

 

Actress Christine Lakin was at the Hollywood Life House in Park City during the 2008 Sundance Film Festival  wearing the new Gucci 2794S sunglass. Christine has been appearing as one of the regular cast members of MTV’s Wild ‘N Out, an improv comedy show similar in structure to Whose Line Is It, Anyway?. She also appeared in commercial called “But He Has Bud Light” that aired during Super Bowl XLI, in which her male companion wants to pick up a hitchhiker who has Bud Light beer in one hand and an axe in the other. Christine currently stars alongside Paris Hilton in the movie The Hottie and the Nottie, which released last week in the US to dismal reviews!

Fashion Icon Karl Lagerfeld was at the Chanel Fashion Show during Paris Fashion Week for the spring/summer 2008 lines wearing one of his own brand new sunglasses, the Karl Lagerfeld KL610S. Mr. Lagerfeld is re-launching his own sunglass line in partnership with Marchon Eyewear and the new frames are due to be released any day!  Mr. Lagerfeld is widely recognized as one of the more influential fashion designers of the late 20th century.  He has collaborated with a variety of different fashion labels, with Chloé, Fendi and Chanel the most notable. Brian Austin Green was out in Los Angeles shopping wearing Chrome Hearts ”Fizzy” sunglass. Brian is best known for his role as David Silver on the television series Beverly Hills 90210. Brian will be guest starring in the fourth episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles this year.

One of our favorite celebs, Katherine Heigl, was visiting friends in Los Angeles this week wearing the fun Juicy Couture “Emma” sunglasses. Katherine was raised as a child as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strict upbringing. However, Katherine now can be seen drinking with friends often and is a self-described chain smoker.

Singer and American Idol winner Jordin Sparks was enjoying the Z100 Party Plane with DKNY JEANS at the Atlantis resort  yesterday on Paradise Island, Bahamas.  Jordin was wearing Marc Jacobs funky 186S sunglass.  It is interesting to note that Jordin first auditioned for American Idol in Los Angeles and was not invited to Hollywood. She returned home to compete in the Fox affiliate-sponsored Arizona Idol, which she won. The winner of Arizona Idol was guaranteed an audition with the producers of American Idol at the Seattle, Washington auditions.  I guess persistence pays!

Marcia Cross was in Santa Monica yesterday wearing the funky Oliver Peoples Ingenue sunglass. In November 2005, Marcia appeared on the cover of the newly launched Psychologies magazine in the United Kingdom. In the interview she discusses her passion for psychology and therapy. Marcia holds a Masters Degree in Psychology from Antioch University.

Jennifer Garner was out at a Farmers Market yesterday wearing the retro styed Blinde “Particulary Peculiar” sunglass. I finally got around to seeing the movie “Kingdom” in which Jennifer takes her first role as part of an ensemble alongside Jamie Foxx and Jason Bateman. Now out on DVD it is a great movie and I highly recommend it if you like action movies.

Mariah Carey was at the Van Cleef & Arpels Boutique in Beverly Hills Tuesday wearing the beautiful Gucci 2969S sunglass. This frame features classy bamboo temple treatments over the classic Gucci horse-bit design. Mariah signed a licensing deal with the cosmetics company Elizabeth Arden last year and release the fragrance, “M”. According to Forbes, Mariah was the sixth richest woman in entertainment as of January 2007, with an estimated net worth of US $225 million.

Music superstar Gwen Stefani was returning home from a flight last weekend at the LAX Airport wearing the classic Italian style of the Yves Saint Laurent YSL 2199S sunglass. Gwen is known as a fashion trendsetter. In 2003, she debuted her clothing line L.A.M.B. and expanded her collection with the 2005 Harajuku Lovers line. Drawing inspiration from Japanese culture and fashion, Gwen performs and makes public appearances with four back-up dancers known as the Harajuku Girls. She married British alternative rock musician Gavin Rossdale in 2002 and they have a son, Kingston, who was born in 2006. She is currently expecting their second child.
