Supermodel Heidi Klum was out shopping at Bristol Farms supermarket in Los Angeles, California Friday wearing the new Tom Ford  (TF0100) “Jaquelin” sunglass.  Heidi has been very busy lately being the host, judge and executive producer of the reality show Project Runway on cable television channel Bravo.  She has been the host of the show since December 2004 in which fashion designers compete for the opportunity to show their line at New York Fashion Week and receive money to launch their own fashion line. Heidi received an Emmy Awards nomination for the show for each of the first four seasons. This year Heidi and Project Runway received a Peabody Award, the first time a reality show had won the award. She was nominated for an Emmy in 2008 for “outstanding host of a reality or reality-competition show” for Project Runway, the first year that category was recognized by the Emmy.

Shock waves ripping through the fashion world yesterday at the news that infamous girl band t.A.T.u have been named as the faces of the new Marc by Marc Jacobs campaign. Jacobs isn’t exactly the pillar of conformity when it comes to ad campaigns and for a man with Sponge Bob Square Pants tattooed on his arm, perhaps this is just the type of ironic gesture for which he is known and loved. t.A.T.u third Russian studio album, titled Upravleniye Otbrosami is said to be released later this year (or possibly 2009) while their third English studio album, Waste Management, is expected to be released alongside the upcoming film You and I.

Brad Pitt was signing autographs yesterday as he arrived for the screening of the movie “Burn After Reading” directed by Ethan and Joel Coen during the 65th Venice International Film Festival at the Venice Lido. Brad was wearing the new Tom Ford  ”Hunter” sunglass which is destined to very popular this fall with its classic lines and smaller tubular shaped temples. Brad is wearing the shiny Rose Gold frame color with yellow Tortoise temples and brown lens.

Kim Kardashian was out shopping in Beverly Hills at the Traffic store wearing the new Roberto Cavalli “RC 401″ Sunglass. Last week People magazine reported that Kim has been thinking “long term” with her current boyfriend Reggie Bush, running back with the New Orleans’ Saints. The jury is still out on whether Reggie will pop the question, but she’s thinking long term.

Katie Price was out shopping in Beverly Hills Monday wearing the very classy and rare Chopard SCH586 Sunglass. Katie is also known as Jordan, and is an English glamour model.  Her decision to start modeling came after a friend suggested she have some professional photographs done. The pictures were sent to a modeling agency in London, and to her surprise, the agency invited her into their studios for a photo shoot and to discuss a contract. Within weeks she began appearing on ‘Page 3′ of the The Sun newspaper (topless modeling).

Katie also had a short run with politics during the June 7, 2001, British General Election where she ran as a candidate in Stretford and Urmston under her real name using the slogan: ‘For a Bigger and Betta Future’. As part of her election campaign, which was intended to bring a little fun into a dull election, she promised free breast implants, increases on nudist beaches, and a ban on parking tickets. In the end, she won 713 votes, 1.8% of the votes cast.

She has described herself as having a “vintage” sense of style, and noted Kate Moss and Diane Keaton as inspirations. Rachel approached DKNY Jeans in late 2007 with a view to design a clothing line with the popular fashion brand. Together they created, Edie Rose, named after Bilson’s grandmother. The collection is set to launch in September 2008, and will consist of 15 sportswear pieces in a monochrome colour palette will be offset by pops of yellow, said to be inspired by a yellow scarf Bilson owned. 

RayBans were initially created in 1937 after Lieutenant John MacCready had returned from a balloon flying adventure in 1920. He complained that the sun had done permanent damage to his eyes. He contacted Bausch & Lomb asking them to create a type of sunglasses that would not only provide superb protection, but also look elegant. On May 7, 1937, Bausch & Lomb officially took out a patent for a prototype known as “Anti-Glare”. The sunglasses were made of gold-plated metal with two green lenses made of mineral glass to filter out infrared and ultraviolet rays. Pilots in the United States Air Force immediately adopted the sunglasses and the Ray-Ban Aviator became a well-known style of sunglasses when General Douglas MacArthur landed on the beach in the Philippines in World War II, and photographers snapped several pictures of him wearing them.

Marko is a Serbian professional basketball player currently playing for the NBA team “Memphis Grizzlies“. Madonna was seen visting the Kabbalah Center in Manhattan, New York wearing the fantastic aviator styled Oliver Peoples ”Farrell” sunglass. 

If you look carefully at the photo, you will see that Madonna wears a the red string around her left wrist, which according to Kabbalah is for protection and to ward off the “Evil Eye” (Ayin Hara).  The “evil eye” is a belief that the envy elicited by the good luck of fortunate people may result in their misfortune, whether it is envy of material possessions including livestock, or of beauty, health, or offspring. 

I know its not a sunglass, BUT it is Chrome Hearts! Jennifer Garner was at LAX International Airport this past weekend seen wearing Chrome Hearts “Shelby” optical frame. Jennifer is a definitely a Chrome Hearts fan and has been seen wearing a number of different Chrome Hearts sunglasses recently.

One of the hottest new sunglasses this summer has been the classy Oliver Peoples ”Sofiane” sunglass.  Both Kate Beckinsale and Tori Spelling were recently seen wearing this stunning frame.  The sunglass is partially translucent showing an internal gold or silver frame and comes in many beautiful colors.  The frame structure is called “Suspended Metal”. A metal wire is encased in two layers of hand-sculpted plastic, resulting in the metal appearing ‘suspended’. The Sofiane sunglass is elegant and feminine and is quite unique.
If you haven’t checked out Oliver Peoples website lately, you probably missed their short film “Mind Games” featuring Hollywood icon Robert Evans.  This creative short film features Mr. Evan’s himself, who was a legendary studio exec and producer in the ’60s and ’70s (The Godfather, Chinatown, Marathon Man).
